From Hawaiʻi. Building in California.

Aiden Buck.

Software, intelligence,
and the physical world.

I build things that connect the three. Computer vision, humanoid robotics, and a rental marketplace, with a lot of testing and learning along the way.

Teaching a robot
to move like us.

On a collaborative Unitree G1 project, we connected recorded human movement to humanoid motion through pose estimation, Blender, and joint mapping. I also operated the robot in front of live audiences.

The workflow used PromptHMR to estimate human pose, Blender to work with the motion, and joint mapping to translate it into upper-body movements for the G1.

I collaborated with visiting University of Hawaiʻi faculty and students at ʻIolani School. I operated the live demonstration independently at ʻIolani AI Night and as one of two operators at Kamehameha CONNECT26.

The illustration above explains the workflow; it is not a robot simulation or a claim of sole authorship.

Founder & builder / Rentul

The gear you need.
The community you know.

A peer-to-peer rental marketplace for college students. Rentul brings discovery, listings, bookings, and messaging into one place, helping students borrow useful things instead of buying them.

I’m building Rentul as both a software product and a business, working across the mobile experience, marketplace workflows, and how to introduce it to a campus community.

The app uses React Native and Expo with TypeScript, backed by Supabase. Its core flows connect finding an item, making a booking, and coordinating with the owner.

From store shelves
to useful information.

A mobile app that lets employees photograph shelves to identify products, count visible items, and check prices. I also built a way to combine shelf photos and upload them to the company’s web app.

Across three summers, my work developed from Tableau dashboards into product recognition and then mobile capture. In 2025, I visited stores to collect and label thousands of product photos. In 2026, I worked on the mobile app and shelf-photo workflow.

The project involved collecting data, testing changes, debugging failures, and improving the result through repeated iteration.

Import once.
Keep working offline.

A Python connector that saves a page of GitHub issues to SQLite and reads them locally. Repeat imports refresh existing records without duplicating them.

Each import fetches the first page of open issues from a public repository, excludes pull requests, and updates records by repository and issue number. Saved reads are entirely local.

The project includes automated tests and a reviewer demo that checks persistence in a separate process. It is a bounded snapshot tool rather than a complete issue mirror. I used AI-assisted development and verification throughout the project.

A little background

Curiosity is the
starting point.
Building is the rest.

I’m a first-year computer science student at Santa Clara University, originally from Hawaiʻi. I’m interested in what happens when software starts to understand, interact with, and improve the world around it.

I like being close to the work: collecting data, trying an approach, finding what breaks, and making it better. That’s the thread connecting my AI work, robotics projects, and entrepreneurial interests.

Outside of tech: four years of varsity water polo at ʻIolani and mentoring younger students through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
